I'm back!
After FINALLY remembering my password, I am back!
Not that anyone reads this anymore anyway. Ah well.

The Joys of Public Transit
If there is anything riding the bus has taught me (other than to hold on tightly when going around curves) it is that there are some truly hideous haircuts in the world.

Better or worse than the mullet?

That's just because I wasn't on the bus. If I'd been there you would have just assumed that the proximity to my hair was making those other hairstyles look worse than they really were.

I Just Can't Stay Put...
...or figure out how to correctly link things for that matter. Oh well.
I'm back home again. I start community college in exactly seven days. Seven daaaaaaayssssssssssssss. Sorry. Couldn't resist.
Apologies to my roommate for my rude behavior this morning. I will make it up to you somehow... have I told you lately how wonderful your hair is?

Seven daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaays...I used to do that to my stepdad. My mom was like there's creepy girl with long dark hair after you. And then I'd follow him around going SEVEN DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYS. i never liked him much.

Mysteries of Life
I purposely did not bring many things to college this year, thinking the bare minimum would get me through and be easier to pack up at the end of the year. Unfortunately, the stuff I brought seems to have multiplied...
Whoops.

The Great White North
In Vancouver our hotel was in a very... fun part of town. There was a twenty-five cent peep show directly across from us, several adult movie stores, and a shop called "Dare to Wear". I've never seen mannequins like
that before.
While I was coming back to the hotel with another girl on the trip, we saw some skinny white guy get punched in the face by a big burly Mexican who told the skinny white guy "You better have my money by Tuesday!"
I almost got thrown out of an Irish pub twice, as well as a sports bar. You see, in Canada the legal age is 19 and I look 14 at most. Luckily I had ID to prove that I was indeed 19.
I ordered my first mixed drink!
It was a pretty fun trip, although I don't see why Americans are supposed to be the rude ones. Canadians aren't any better.

Seattle
I love flying.
Having said that, I found a computer in the Seattle La Quinta hotel and am using it. Obviously.
To the college crew! I miss everyone lots and if you want postcards send me your addresses via email. I picked them up for you all but I can't find the addresses! I have also bought you many souvenirs and I hope you like them.
San Francisco is my favorite place on Earth. Seattle... not so much. We went to the Space Needle, but that is pretty much all there is for us to do. I'd rather live in Seattle than SF but for tourists SF is much better.
I've had some great food and D and I have pretty much shared everything cause portions are so large. Today for lunch we shared grilled salmon. It was amazing.
All in all we're having a fantastic time! Tomorrow we leave for Victoria and Sunday we leave for Vancouver. I'll probably be back late on... Wednesday I think.
See you then!
PS: I love the new timezone.

Leaving on a Jet Plane
I am packed! So I'll be wearing tops... they'll just be really wrinkled because I had to roll everything up.
Plane Rules for my Flying Companion:
- No talking; it shakes the plane.
- No poking; it tilts the plane
- No talking, laughing, or heavy breathing; it might create turbulence.
I've never been on a plane before, can you tell?

I'd tell you to have a stiff drink, but you're not old enough and the flight attendant would probably offer you milk, it does a body good.

Have a stiff drink anyhow. I didn't used to be so freaked by air travel, but the idea of putting my life in the hands of someone else is starting to get a little hinkey for me.
Get a window seat; if the turbulence gets too bad you can stare at the ground. Even tho you're high up, it eases the nerves. Mmmm, ground. I never tried the Die Hard "make fisties with your toes" trick, but if I have to fly again within the next year I'll be funking up the airport bar with my shoes off.

O Canada
I have begun to pack for my trip. By orders of the professor we're only supposed to bring one smaaaaaall suitcase and a bag (my awesome tote that Phipps made me) because all of our stuff has to be carry on. In my suitcase, I have managed to cram five pairs of jeans and a pair of socks. That's it. It's full.
I hope they don't wear tops on the west coast.

Tops are optional I'm sure.
And if they aren't, just claim you're from France or some other foreign country

Short Like Me
I googled angry penguins. Apparently it was an Australian art movement. That is pretty awesome."The Angry Penguins, to quote Max Harris, expressed 'a noisy and aggressive revolutionary modernism' and represented the new language and the new painting of Australia. They were forthright and unapologetic, 'demanding' to be heard and seen." (Australian Culture and Recreation Portal)
And as most of you know, I will soon be leaving for San Francisco, Seattle, Victoria, and Vancouver for ten days of fun, fun, fun with Deidre! Anyone want me to bring them back anything? I'm incredibly excited about it.

I is a Student! Honest!
I went shopping today, and I swung by the makeup counter. While there I met a lovely salesperson, and I asked for some advice.
Me: Is there anything anything I can do to look older? I'd love to look at least 16.
Saleperson: You're 16?
Me: No, I'm 19. But I'm being realistic.
She blinked at me, then gave me the usual spiel about how I'll be SO GLAD when I'm older that I look so young and yadda yadda yadda. Yeah, ok. I could be dead by then. Give me something I can use today. I'm tired of getting handed the children's menu when I go out to eat with my mother. (Funny how I never get handed the children's menu in Staunton...)
I did get things straightened out at TCC. Amazing how two hours spent
on the phone and half a dozen emails traded resolved nothing, but when
I go down there in person everything is resolved in under half an hour.
So now I'm signed up for three classes during the summer.
And I
got a new cell phone. Which is pretty cool. My mother ended up giving
financial advice to the salesperson whose only dream (apparently) is to
go to college.
Salesperson: I do this and earn $7 an hour.Sometimes I get commission.
Mother: I'm civil service. I make a little more than that.
Me: I'm a college student. I pay thirty thousand to find myself.
Salesperson: You go to college? Wow! I thought you were in highschool at the most!
It's a curse, I tell you. A curse.

Waitaminnit... you're sitting in a bar in Mexico, and you couldn't ask a local about how to say something in Spanish?
I'm proud of you.
We Americans have a reputation to
uphold, and with young people like you, I don't worry about passing the
torch.

Random Thought
I heard one of my favorite songs today coming from somewhere that was not my computer. And it isn't a very popular song.
It was odd. Kind of ticked me off a little. Not the kind of ticked off that precipitates bashing their car windows in with a baseball bat, but the kind of ticked off that makes me feel like a kindergartener who has just had their favorite crayon stolen.
It was just really odd.

Nothing scarier than pissed off penguins. Especially drunk penguins. Always keep the vodka away from those belligerent anchovy-breathed buggers.

Dear God...
...I have entered the blogosphere. What fun!
There aren't seven of me, and I'm not a penguin either. I'm a little angry, but not too much.
One day I plan to actually put content here.
